Get involved with a support group

My hospital offered a few Lactation Support Group for the first 6 weeks past the baby's due date. If your hospital offers something like that from their Education Department, take advantage of it. Even if everything is going well, you should go. It's good to be encouraged and get a pat on the back if everything is going well and it's good to have experienced help to identify problems you might be having. If not a Lactation Support Group, try to find a La Leche League group to attend for at least the first month or so, until you feel like you're on your way.
